Therapeutic Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most common, and widely practiced modality in western cultures. lighter pressure is used and the focus is relaxation. Benefits from Swedish massage include increased circulation, flexibility, and immune response. This is an excellent choice for clients who are new to massage, are sensitive to pressure or just need to unwind.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage sessions can entail a full or partial body treatment based on the time requested and/or the client’s needs. The work is more focused and begins to address the deeper muscle groups and chronic pain affecting specific body areas (neck, shoulders, low back, etc.). Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, spasms, and stress while promoting the health and well-being of the client.

Reflexology

The entire focus of a reflexology session is on the feet and ankles. Using Thai influences, I use a wooden dowel to provide a variety of pressures, and techniques offering a unique and customized experience. Many reports feeling full-body benefits from receiving work only on the feet.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage treatments take the therapeutic massage to a more intense and effective level, where deep-seated patterns of pain and tension are held. The association of pain with deep pressure is misleading. Rather, there is less emphasis on relaxation as the primary goal and more emphasis on altering the structure and muscle restrictions. Once accustomed to this work you will experience an increased degree of relaxation, the alleviation of pain, and longer-lasting benefits. Perfect for those with chronic pain, and those who live active lifestyles.

Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage

This treatment offers many wonderful benefits for both mother and baby. The Swedish Prenatal focus is relaxation. The Therapeutic Prenatal targets areas of discomfort, such as the neck, back, pelvis and legs, to reduce pain and swelling. Receiving massages throughout the course of your pregnancy helps to promote your overall health and comfort level during this time of change in the body. Written permission from the client’s physician is appreciated for all but is required for all medium or high-risk pregnancies.

Sports Massage

This modality includes a broad spectrum of techniques including stretching, range of motion, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage, Swedish and deep tissue massage. Techniques and pressure applied to depend on the type and phase of training of the athlete to maximize benefits, expedite recovery, and improve performance. Although sports is in the name, one does not have to be an athlete to receive this type of bodywork. Clients are advised to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing as many sessions include passive and active stretching.

Geriatric/Elder Massage

This session focuses on the specific needs of the elderly population. Pressure and techniques vary based on the clients’ needs and preferences.
